We were a little concerned about Bents Basin - we normally camp 3.5 hours South at Coolendel and were worried that Bents Basis would not be any where near as good as the amazing Coolendel.
Well our worries were quickly over come and Bents Basin could be a new favourite - almost as good as Coolendel, but much, much closer to Sydney.
We went down on Saturday morning, came back Sunday afternoon - so a quick weekend, but about all I could cope with after a flight back from the UK and terrible jet-lag.
It was Harry Underhill's 7th birthday today so we had lots of cake to celebrate.
James got the biggest piece of cake EVER.
But fell for the old "smell the icing James" trick as Emma pushed his face into the gooey chocolate icing.....
Jack seemed to enjoy running around the camp ground. He went to sleep OK in the tent but then decided to scream for about 20 minutes at midnight....leading to Emma putting him in the car and going for a drive to calm him down and save the campground from a sleepless night.
Bents Basin has a huge swimming hole - we all had a great time in the water. Swimming, playing in rapids and jumping off rocks.
Jack got to paddle - he is not quite ready for swimming yet.

So a successful camping weekend. We were with the Underhill and the Forest family.
I may have mentioned that we recently got two rats. Well two became nil about a week ago as they escaped from their cage. Despite finding freedom they stayed close to home and Emma could hear them running over the roof and in the air conditioning vents. When I got home on Friday, I lifted Olivia up into the roof cavity and she spotted Snuggles the rat and managed to grab her and bring her down. One rat returned to cage, one to go.
Well as we were looking for Bubbles the rat I noticed that once again the rat cage was open and empty. Jack then announced "rat gone" which we took as a confession that he had opened the cage....
So rats were back to nil.
Sunday afternoon, back from camping and James spots Snuggles peering out of the roof hatch. Up the step ladder and a quick grab and Snuggles is once again in her cage.
Bubbles has been spotted twice today - so she is still in the building.
I am sure by next week we will either:
A) Have lost both rats again;
B) Have realised that while enjoying freedom they enjoyed male rats - I am expecting to wake up to 14 rats in the cage within a few days
C) By some miracle have both rats, pregnancy free in their cage.
I am sure you will all be sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for an update.
Ken
